Ben and Julia’s Marquee
This weekend I travelled down to sunny Leicestershire for the wedding of Julia and Ben

set in the grounds of Julia’s parents house. The weather was perfect for the bride and groom,not a cloud in the sky and not a breath of wind. The happy couple were married in the small local village church after which all the wedding guests were transported by a tractor and cart back to the wedding reception. Here they were treated to Pimms and canopies whilst listening to the funky laid back Ibiza sounds of Daniel “Dax on Sax” Smith who created a great chilled out atmosphere.

The wedding guests were than asked into the marquee so the wedding breakfast could be served which is where my old pal Howard Wing introduced himself. He started his set with some easy listening laid back tunes whilst guests enjoyed their meals.When the main coarse had been served Howard started to get the guests a little more involved especially singing to the Mother of The Bride and getting one of the guests up to dance whilst he sang King Of The Swingers to him!

By the time the wedding breakfast had finished the party atmosphere that had been generated in the marquee was amazing, Howard even got guests to join in with a Love Train conga that snaked its way around all the tables and into the bar area. After the wedding breakfast had finished and all speeches had been completed there was a thirty minute comfort break whilst the marquee was prepared for the night-time party.

I was already set up in the third part of the marquee which was hidden away from the guests by a white screen which was lifted up so the bride and groom and all their guests could join us for Ben and Julia’s first dance as husband and wife which was Ronan Keatings When You Say Nothing At All,a classic love song which suited the occasion. Ben even grabbed the microphone and sung along to his wife..he was quite good!

The party really did going then,as the sun was setting the guests were letting their hair down and having some fun on the dance floor with some inflatable guitars,saxophones and micro-phones that had been left out. I enjoyed getting a line of air guitar players rocking out to Eye Of the Tiger by Survivor.

The night went so quick as I was enjoying myself so much and all the interaction that was going on with the bride and groom and their guests. This was a classic English wedding set on a perfect summers day, the wedding had a cricket theme,we had Pimms on the lawn, the wedding flowers were sun-flowers, all the male members of the wedding party wore tails and the wedding breakfast was beef! We even had one of the villagers take to the air in their hot-air balloon just as Howard was singing Come Fly With Me.

This really was a wedding to remember, I would like to wish Ben and Julia a long and happy life together as husband and wife. Oh I nearly forgot…a rare thing happened, Howard was the last guest to leave the party…apart from me and heres the proof!
